Chisels & Bolsters
Chisels and bolsters are essential tools in construction, woodworking, and masonry, each serving specific purposes for cutting and shaping materials with precision.
Chisels are sharp-edged tools used primarily in woodworking and carpentry. They feature a metal blade with a beveled edge, mounted on a handle, and are designed for carving or cutting wood. Chisels come in various types, such as bench chisels for general use, mortise chisels for cutting joints, and paring chisels for fine detailing. They allow artisans to shape wood with accuracy and are often used in conjunction with a mallet for controlled impact.
Bolsters, on the other hand, are robust tools used in masonry work. They have a wide, flat blade and are designed for cutting and splitting bricks or masonry blocks. Bolsters are commonly used for tasks like trimming bricks to size or creating clean edges in stonework. The wide blade provides stability and control, making it easier to achieve straight cuts.
Both chisels and bolsters are vital for their respective trades, enabling precise cutting and shaping of materials, and are indispensable in achieving high-quality craftsmanship in woodworking and masonry projects.
